Services Offered
The Student Health Clinic is located in the Sharwan Smith Center, ST 168 (across from the post office). The Student Health Clinic is staffed Monday through Friday by a Physician with prescriptive privileges. For an appointment, call (435) 586-7718
For an emergency call 911 or go to the Emergency Room at Valley View Medical Center (hospital) located at 1303 North Main, Cedar City; phone (435) 868-5000. Student Health Clinic staff does not respond to emergencies outside of the Student Health Clinic.
Services and treatment offered include but are not limited to:
- Acute illness care such as sore throats, coughs, eye infections
- Skin problems such as rashes, acne, and warts
- Minor injuries
- Pregnancy testing and referral to appropriate community health care provider
- Women’s health exams including pap smears and birth control
- STD & HIV testing
- Immunizations & TB testing
- Mental Health issues such as depression, anxiety, and eating disorders in collaboration with Counseling and Psychological Services
If Student Health Services feels it is necessary to refer the student to outside providers, specialists, the emergency room, or for laboratory tests or x-rays, the student is responsible for those costs. It is also the students' responsibility to purchase prescriptions that have been prescribed.
Services are offered to any enrolled student, regardless of credit hours.
In the event of an illness or injury when the Student Health Clinic is not open, students should call a qualified health care provider in the community. A list of community providers is posted outside the Student Health Clinic, or look in the Yellow Pages under physician.
Health education materials are available at the Student Health Clinic on a variety of issues.
ALL services provided by the SUU Student Health Clinic are CONFIDENTIAL.
