Student Support Center at SUU – A Place to Belong

Attending SUU offers exciting new challenges and new situations, especially for students who are the first in their family to attend college. There are many adjustments that will take place in the first weeks and months of freshman year. The staff members in the Student Support Center offer a variety of services to help smooth the transition. Program services include:

• Developmental and introductory math classes of 20 students or fewer
• Math tutoring
• Academic advisement for all general education
• Supplemental financial aid resources

Most importantly, staff members in the Student Support Center pride themselves on their welcoming and caring attitude. No appointments are necessary and students are given the time and attention they need to resolve problems and make decisions.

Student Support Center is located in the Smith Student Center in suite 206 above the rotunda.

Eligibility Criteria

Student Support Services is funded by a grant from the US Department of Education and serves students who meet one of the following criteria:

• First-generation in college (neither parent has a Bachelor’s degree)
• Students who have lower family incomes
• Students who use English as a second language and are permanent residents of the USA
• Students with a documented disability
