HPV Vaccine Program for Non-insured Females

In order to better serve the students of SUU, the SUU Student Health Services has enrolled in the Utah Department of Health’s program to provide free Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine to female students, ages 19-26, who do not have insurance coverage for this vaccine. The funding for this program is from donations. It is not guaranteed that funding will be available for students to receive all three doses.

HPV is a sexually transmitted virus that has been shown to cause cervical cancer in women.

HPV vaccine is given as a 3-dose series:

• 1st Dose: Now
• 2nd Dose: 2 months after Dose 1
• 3rd Dose: 6 months after Dose 1
  Additional (booster) doses are not recommended.

It will be the student’s responsibility to make and keep appointments to receive the vaccine. A $5.00 no show fee will be charged for missed appointments, or appointments not cancelled 24 hours in advance.

As part of SUU Student Health Services agreement with the Utah Department of Health, we are required to participate in the Utah Statewide Immunization Information System (USIIS). This is a confidential state wide data base to document immunizations. The student can opt out of having their information entered into the data base. SUU Student Health Services encourages students to participate in this data base, as it allows their immunization records to be accessed by health care providers throughout Utah who participate in USIIS, and by departments of health in Utah.

If a student has not received care at the SUU Student Health Clinic prior to receiving the HPV vaccine they will be required to pay the onetime $10.00 record fee.
