SUUSA Fee Review - Tell Us Your Thoughts!

Over the past several years the portion of student fees controlled by the administration has steadily increased, while the portion of student fees controlled by student-elected officials has decreased. Simultaneously, various branches of student government have faced budget-shortages in the past several years. The SUUSA Student Fee Recommendation Committee has been established to review any possible correlation between these budget shortages and the amount of fees remaining under student-control, and make recommendations to the student fee review board.

Possible recommendations could include, but are not limited to:
a) Re-allocation of funds within SUUSA Student Government.
b) Increased fiscal responsibility within each branch of SUUSA Student
c) Increasing the student-controlled portion of student fees by:
i: Increasing the total amount of student fees, or
ii: Re-apportionment of student fees from administration control to student control.

Please review the links at your left for a timeline, mission statement, and a committee membership listing. There will be an Open Forum regarding this issue that will be open to ANYONE who would like to participate on Wednesday, October 25 at 4:00PM in the Starlight Room within the Sharwan Smith Center. We invite everyone to attend and hope to help clarify these issues as well as hear student thoughts / concerns.

Now is your opportunity, as a student who pays these fees, to voice your opinion on these issues, as well as get the answers to any questions or concerns you may have regarding this issue. Feel free to contact any committee member, attend our open forum, or you may also reply to this blog posting.
