SUUSA Constitutional Changes
SR 009-09*
Comments:
I encourage everyone to tell us how you feel about the proposed constitution change. This has been worked on by a lot of people to this point, but it still needs student input. If you have concerns feel free to email me at daniel.j.strange@gmail.com (especially if you want to remain anonymous to the majority of readers) so that I can ask questions to clarify what your concerns are. I feel that the changes add a lot of clarification and ease the process for amending it. I feel it is a great change, but I also see where students can have concerns. Please voice those concerns here.

Well I see one thing in the constitution that doesn't speak very highly of the SUUSA government. A minimum GPA of 2.5? Hmmm... That is barely above a c+ average. I could be wrong but it would seem to me that you would want somewhat more competent students representing us. But I could be wrong. Even like a B average would speak more highly of those who are elected to represent us as students, make difficult decisions, and decide where our hard earned money will go and how it will be spent. I would rather have someone with B average than barely above a C+ average doing that.

Anonymous, What would your suggestion be. The suggestion for a cumulative 3.000 or 2.750 has been given and is being considered. What do you propose?

I believe that a 3.0 should be used for a student to run for any office. If a student has that good of academia then that shows they care about their education and not just being popular like some past and present student body officials.
I haven't looked all the way through the changes but I don't think that the entire student body should be referred to as SUUSA, that name needs to be kept separate for the student body government. That's how I have understood it was used since I attended a semester here ten years ago.
