Classes & Gradesfaq

What does a “W” on my transcript mean? What about a “UW”?
A “W” means you withdrew from a class. “UW” means unofficial withdrawal (you either stopped attending or never attended the class, but did not take actions to withdraw from the course). A “W” will remain on your transcript to show that you dropped the course, but it does not affect your GPA. A “UW” will also remain on your transcript and will calculate as an “F” in your GPA.

What does an “I” mean on my transcript?
An “I” stands for Incomplete. This grade ndicates the student was unable to complete the course for a legitimate reason after having completed a majority of the required work. Students must complete a contract with their professor. You must be passing the course at the time of an incomplete contract. You have up to a year to finish the course, after which time the grade will become an “F”. You do not re-register for the course if you are working on completing an "Incomplete Contract." Allowing an incomplete contract is at the disgression of the instructor.
