After School Programming
The Community Engagement Center has created several after school programs to aide children of various ages. Be involved in the community by volunteering in one of these great service opportunities.

There are a lot of ways to get involved!
After School Sports
After School Sports is a program geared toward middle school students. We play various sports (ie: soccer, basketball, etc.) and intertwine leadership skills as well as teamwork and sportsmanship. We hope to become mentors to these amazing kids as they progress through their middle school and high school years. As we work with these students we also introduce them to the "college experience" and hope that they choose to make college a part of their future plans.

SUU Discover Reading Program
SUU Discover A Book is More Than Its Cover is a student-run story time for the children of the community. Every Tuesday evening at 6:30, children and volunteers come together in the Cedar City Library in the Park to enjoy books together. Each week is based on a theme like Courage, Gratitude, Community, etc. We usually read two books about that theme and do an activity or craft to help the children have fun and remember what they learned. It's a great time to listen to stories and to learn what books can teach us!

Wee Swim
Wee Swim is a program that offers children enrolled at SUU's Headstart an opportunity to learn how to swim by providing free swim lesson instruction. These lessons are taught according to American Red Cross standards by certified water safety instructor volunteers. There are classes each semester that run for 6 weeks and are tons of fun.
