General Education Committee
Charge: GEC is responsible for providing quality and oversight of all of the General Education courses offered at SUU, and it is expected to ensure compliance with state-mandated policies on General Education and alignment with SUU’s strategic and academic plans.
GEC Responsibilities
- Work with faculty, staff, and students to ensure SUU offers and maintains a comprehensive, assessable, and dynamic general education program that meets the agreed upon institutional learning outcomes and goals.
- Develop and coordinate the GEC’s operation in cooperation with the University Undergraduate Curriculum Committee (UUCC)
- Provide oversight of the General Education courses offered at SUU.
- Work with the Center of Excellence for Teaching and Learning (CETL) to help support faculty teaching effectiveness in general education courses.

Institutional Review Board
Academic Program Review Committee
University LRT Committee (soon to be P&T)
Charge: Review applications for LRT (sabbatical leave, rank advancement, tenure) for the current academic year in accordance with current LRT policy, review and report on effectiveness of current LRT policy, and collect and file the approved department and college LRT committee composition policies along with committee members’ names. 3-year term; 1 tenured representative from each college and 1 tenured at-large representative. Upon standing request, by the First of April, the Provost’s Office, notifies the Dean of each College or School about vacancies on the University Promotion and Tenure Committee. By the last day in April, Deans provide the Faculty Senate Executive Committee and the appropriate representative from the Provost’s Office with a roster of faculty serving on this committee for the next academic year. The Faculty Senate President assigns one member of the committee to serve as chair.
Online Teaching & Learning Advisory Board
Charge: An advisory committee for distance education staff regarding program and course development and pedagogical aspects of delivery to insure that distance learning is delivered with appropriate rigor and within standards of the Northwest Commission of Colleges and Universities. 3-year term; Representation from all areas of academics should serve on the committee, including IT and Online Teaching & Learning.
Program and Course Fee Committee
Charge: According to policy 6.42 this committee consists of the Provost, two deans appointed by the Provost, two faculty members appointed by the Faculty Senate president, a Financial Services representative, a Student Affairs representative and the Academic Vice President of SUUSA. Assumed a 3-year term.
