Review Dates and Deadlines for the Academic Year:

IRB Proposal submissions and applications are accepted anytime; however, there is a monthly deadline associated with their review. The monthly deadline for review is the 7th of the month during the academic year. Application submissions received past the 7th of the month will be reviewed as part of the subsequent month’s deadline. For example, applications received between September 8th and October 7th will be reviewed as part of the October 7th deadline. Applications received between October 8th and November 7th will be reviewed as part of the November 7th deadline. This monthly pattern will follow for other months in the academic year.

The spring 2020 full board meeting schedule:

  • 28 January 2020, 10-11:15am, GC304
  • 27 February 2020, 11:30-12:45pm, GC304
  • 31 March 2020, 11:30-12:45pm, GC304
  • 21 April 2020, 9-11am, GC304

Summer reviews will be done using a similar timeframe, but will be dependent upon the type of proposal. Generally, exempt and expedited reviews can be evaluated over the summer, whereas full board reviews cannot. Full board review proposals received in the summer will be reviewed in the fall semester.

Properly completed proposals generally take 1-2 weeks to approve (if exempt or expedited), or 3-4 weeks to approve (if full board) after the monthly deadline (i.e., the 7th of each month).

Please contact irb@suu.edu if you have questions about this process.
