American Sign Language, Beginner

In this class, participants will be introduced to the language, culture, and behavior of the deaf population. This class will focus on specific language and cultural behaviors with an introduction to the grammar of ASL. Expressive and receptive skills will be emphasized in your learning. Students will participate extensively in interactive classroom activities using the “Voices Off” policy to ensure ASL immersion.

This ten-week class meets Mondays from 6:30pm - 8:00pm with the possibility of skipping November 11 with the end date depending on the class. Registration deadline is September 8.

Instructor Bio

Instructor Lawrence Laskowski has been teaching ASL classes for more than 30 years. He has previously taught for the Chicago Hearing Society, The Deaf and Hard of Hearing Service Center of St. George, Southwest Tech, and is currently teaching at Gateway Preparatory Academy in Cedar City.
