Garth and Jerri Frehner

Picture of Garth and Jerri FrehnerGarth and Jerri Frehner have been designated as Southern Utah University Modern Day Founders for their outstanding dedication to the mission of this institution. As steadfast believers in the value of education, they have distinguished themselves as faithful friends of the University in support of many SUU programs, including the establishment of the Frehner Museum of Natural History, in order to provide greater insights into our world. Garth, raised in nearby Moapa Valley, Nevada, was an active pre-engineering student at SUU in the 1950's and went on to an illustrious career building roads, highways, and bridges all over the West through his Frehner Construction Company. He and Jerri have served as exemplars of conscientious service to their fellow citizens here and around the world as they have traveled the globe extensively, largely to practice their shared avocation of big game hunting. They have generously used this pursuit for the edification of others. Garth and Jerri have hosted many tours of their wildlife and horticultural exhibits to augment the education of school children and others. In 2011, they chose to expand upon their spirit of sharing knowledge by making this natural history museum possible as part of the SUU Science Center.
