Program Description

SUU PREP is a FREE summer academic program that provides three summers of rigorous academic instruction, educational hands-on projects, challenging homework assignments, and daily career awareness for 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students who have an interest and aptitude in Science, Technology, Engineering, and/or Mathematics fields. SUU PREP strives to provide opportunities for high achieving students to pursue STEM studies and careers. Underrepresented and first generation students are encouraged to apply.

Attendance Policy:

SUU PREP students are allowed three absences before probable dismissal from the program. There are no exceptions. Please keep this in mind as you plan your summer vacations and other activities.

Fridays are optional. This is when we participate in field trips.

June 4 – July 19, 2018
Monday – Friday
8:50 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

Program Admission Requirements:

  • Iron County resident currently be enrolled in 6th grade
  • Fill out application and all necessary application requirements
  • 86% or better in mathematics class. Be in good standing in all courses
  • Attend all 7 weeks of SUU PREP- A maximum of THREE absences are allowed. However, absences often conflict with the student’s learning. If your summer plans would require an absence beyond 3 days, please do not apply.
  • Arrange transportation to and from SUU PREP daily and bring lunch or lunch money.
  • Complete daily homework assignments. Three missed homework assignments may result in the student missing a Friday field trip.
