Registration

Teams must first register with Utah Science Olympiad. Teams state which regional(s) they would like to attend during the registration process. Once registration closes, Utah Science Olympiad sends the SUU Office of Academic Enhancement a list of teams that would like to attend SUUSO.

First consideration for acceptance to SUUSO is given to Southern Utah teams and teams that have not competed in any other Science Olympiad Regionals. Additional teams who have competed in other regionals are invited on a first-request-first-invite basis until the competition is full.

Teams accepted to SUUSO are sent a registration form. Once the team completes the form, their coach will receive an event sign up sheet and be notified of available Self-Scheduling Event times.

Team Base Camps

Team Base Camps will be in the General Classrooms Building. Team Coaches will be given their assigned room number via email.

Schools with Multiple Teams

Schools with multiple teams are given an extra name to help differentiate teams. For example, instead of Winter Quay Team A and Team B, the teams might be called Winter Quay Watson and Winter Quay Wright. Teams may specify their team names, as long as the names are not a single letter or number.

Team members must know who is on their team and which team they are registered with. Students may only compete with students who are on the same team. For example, if Rory is on Watson and Amy is on Wright, they may study together all they want. However, at the Regionals they are only allowed to compete with their respective team members. If students compete with members of other teams (such as Rory competing with Amy), t heir test score will not be added into the final rankings (as we would not know which team to attribute the score to).

Time Conflict Testing

  • Students must have a ticket to enter the testing area.
  • Students must attend at their appointed time. Time will be written on their admittance ticket.
  • Students may only bring allowed testing supplies, all other items will be held at the check-in desk.
  • Cell phones and other electronics are not allowed. Student cannot use cell phones as calculators. If students use a cell phone, they will receive a zero on their test and be asked to leave the testing area. Further, they will not be admitted to the testing area for additional tests.
  • To insure students receive adequate time in the testing area, their arrival time will be written on their test envelope by an SO volunteer.
  • Students must turn in their test by the appointed test time.
  • Tests exceeding the allotted test time will not be graded.
  • All requests to use testing area must be made at least 2 weeks prior to SO. No exceptions.
