This degree is a 100% online. The program delivers 33 credits* of master level coursework in Cyber Security and Information Assurance (CSIA). The program includes 6 Core classes (18 Credits); 3 Elective classes (9 Credits); and 2 Classes or Thesis/Capstone/Internship (6 Credits) or 2 additional elective courses).

*Students without cybersecurity-related education may be required to take an additional 3-credit foundation course: CSIA 6000 (Foundations of Information Security and Assurance) prior to starting the program.

Why Study Cyber Security at SUU?

The CSIA degree can be completed in 3 semesters (one year). Its core curriculum is designed to focus exclusively on cybersecurity, which provides you with the depth of knowledge and formal training that is ever more vital to employers across the professional cybersecurity landscape.

Cyber Security and Information Assurance

The Cyber Security and Information Assurance Curriculum is a total of 33 Credits that includes:

  • Core Requirements (18 Credits);
  • Electives Courses (9 Credits); and
  • 6 Credits (Capstone Experience or Thesis or take any 2 additional courses).

Students in the program have opportunities to apply for tuition waivers and scholarships. As a CSIA student, you also have an opportunity to apply for travel funds for conferences.

Cybercrime is on the rise, and there is a serious shortage of people to combat it. Damages from cybercrime are expected to exceed $6 billion by 2021. This problem is exacerbated by the fact that there just aren't enough people working to counter cyber criminals; in fact, the shortage of qualified cyber security personnel is getting worse every year.

In 2017 the U.S. employed nearly 780,000 people in cybersecurity positions, with approximately 350,000 current cyber security openings, according to CyberSeek, a project supported by the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE), a program of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in the U.S. Department of Commerce.

You will learn how to identify solutions to global cyber threats while mastering the legal, ethical, and policy issues. As a graduate of Southern Utah University’s program, you will be trained for careers in:
