Education Leadership - Nevada

Southern Utah University  is proud to provide coursework leading to two Nevada Department of Education (NDE) licenses as a part of the Approved Traditional Teacher Education Program of the NDE: Administrator of a School License and Administrator of a Program License.

The Administrator of a School Program now can lead to an SUU Masters of Education.

The Administrator of a School License coursework provides cutting edge activities to prepare classroom teachers for the opportunity to lead and direct K-12 schools in Nevada. Admissions requirements:

  1. Nevada professional educator license
  2. original transcripts posting your degree(s)
  3. 3.0 GPA on last 60 credits hour of course work
  4. Confidential recommendation from immediate administrative supervisor or an LEA-level administrator with knowledge regarding the individual's potential as a school leader.
  5. Verification of background clearance
  6. Copy of most current evaluation
  7. Attendance at orientation
  8. Admissions Interview

Upon completion of the program students must:

  1. Work with the Nevada Board of Education to have the administrative license posted. Students will need to provide proof of completion of the program to the Board of Education.

  2. Transcripts can be ordered through the student's SUU Portal. 2. Submit to the Department of Education evidence of 5 years of teaching experience as a licensed teacher in a program of early childhood education, kindergarten, or grades 1-12.

The Administrator of a Program License coursework engages participating educators in supporting programs at the school and district level to meet the needs of learners and educators who serve them in Nevada schools and districts.

Applicants must:
(1) Submit to the Department evidence of 5 years of teaching experience as a licensed  teacher in a program of early childhood education, kindergarten or grades 1 through 12.

This Educational Leadership Preparation Program (ELPP) includes these graduate level courses that are designed to be delivered at a distance using Canvas as the Learning Management System and Zoom as the Video Conferencing Tool to connect instructors and learners. These programs are accredited through the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP) .

SUU has designed these distance delivered courses to be a part on our Online Graduate Tuition Schedule . This affords out-of-state students access to our “Good Neighbor” approach of charging out-of-state learners, in-state tuition.
