Dr. Rosa A. Perez received her Ph.D. from The City University of New York (CUNY) and has been teaching at SUU since 2008. She enjoys teaching all aspects of the French language, and more particularly French and Francophone history and culture. Initially, her research and publications were centered on interrelations between Jews and Christians in Medieval Northern France, and more specifically the everyday exchanges between women from these two communities. Dr. Perez is also working on gender and popular culture in medieval romances. She has published several book articles on that subject.
Currently her research has moved to a more recent past to examine how Sephardic Jews from Algeria have been affected by exile following the Independence of Algeria in 1962, and how identity and memory have shaped novels, biographies and other types of texts published by writers from these communities in the past fifty years.
