2014 GHA Counselor Profiles

Jaci Stucky - Counselor Facilitator; Senior, Marketing Major

Jaci Stucky is a Senior Marketing major from the great land of Nibley, Utah.  She graduated from Mountain Crest High School in 2011 where she played volleyball and golf and was involved with various clubs and organizations.  Some of Jaci’s interests include: longboarding, painting her fingernails, making smoothies, traveling, golfing, eating pickles, wakeboarding, taking pictures, snow skiing, meeting new people, sewing, and hiking.  Her favorite animal is a llama!  Jaci is super excited for GHA, and looks forward to meeting you all!

Kaleigh Wayment; Junior, Exercise Science Major

Kaleigh is a junior Exercise Science major at Southern Utah University looking at a career in physical therapy. You are bound to find her swimming in any body of water fulfilling her life-long dream of becoming a mermaid. Her favorite animals are giraffes, sharks, and sting rays. She loves going to the park with her pups named Daisy and Toby, four wheeling, and going on spontaneous adventures. Kaleigh also loves dabbling in the study of the human body and throwing a rocking party. 

Kelsey Haddox; Junior, Graphic Design Major

Kelsey Haddox was born in Ogden, UT and lived there during the school year while spending most summers living in Oxnard, CA. She loves the beach and would one day love to live on the coast where it doesn't snow. She just completed her Sophomore year at SUU as a Graphic Design major and a Management minor. She is heavily involved in the Professional Business Leaders (PBL) club and has a love of business, art, Harry Potter, dancing, being outdoors, running, traveling, singing and playing the piano. You will never find Kelsey without her camera and paper to jot down ideas or doodle on. She wants to make a difference in the world and can't wait to rock your world at GHA.

Kori Presbrey; Junior, Family Life and Human Development

Kori Prisbrey comes from good ole, small town Richfield, Utah. She is a Junior at SUU majoring in Family Life and Human Development and hopes to one day be a social worker. Kori is a huge fan of dancing, and will bust a move whenever possible. She also loves doing anything that involves being outside like hiking, swimming, four wheeling, or just lounging in the sun. Summer is her favorite season, and she can’t wait to spend a part of her summer with you at GHA! 

Jake Smith; Senior, Biology and Political Science Major

David Jake Smith is a senior at Southern Utah University. He is double majoring in Biology Education and Political Science. Teaching is Jake’s passion!! He plans to teach high school after graduating from SUU. Currently, Jake is employed at Southwest Applied Technology College as an EMT/AEMT Instructor, at SUU as an Admissions Clerk, and at the Iron County Sheriff Department as an AEMT. Even though he is busy, you’ll never find Jake without a smile on his face.  Jake hails from the notorious Parowan, UT and has lived in Southern Utah all of his life. He enjoys the outdoors, traveling, reading, all genres of music, movies, cooking, and above all friends/family. He also holds a special place in his heart for turtles. This young man definitely has an optimistic outlook for the future.  Jake absolutely loves SUU! He decided to join the T-Bird Nation in 2008 after attending GHA. He is honored to be a counselor and looks forward to sharing a life changing experience with you at GHA this summer!!

Quinn Thurman; Senior, Communication Major

Quinn "QT" Thurman, the one and only, a singin' goofball hails from the land of Riverton Utah. Sunshine, music, family, food, and friends are all he needs to concoct the best of the best days. Graduating in 2009 as an avid tennis player and armature singer, he made the decision to come to Southern Utah to learn about life. He decided to take a two year leave, learn a new language, and teach people of things he holds most dear. Upon returning he tasted just about every major, and after much ado, Quinn found a home in the communication department with a minor in Spanish. He has since dipped into about everything in life he can get his hands on, and aspires to do greatness and to make a difference through sincerity and ambition. Ladies and gentleman, give it up for this year's academy award winner for "all the above". Quinn Thurman.

Scott Hurd; Senior, Exercise Science Major

Scott Hurd, or Scotty as his friends call him, is from Tremonton UT. Raised with farming roots he has branched out to study Exercise Science at SUU with the goal of becoming a physical therapist. He enjoys the outdoors, playing sports, and the occasional good read. His favorite book is Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls. Even though he's a grown man and has read it several times it still makes him cry. Don't be telling your friends that though!

Tyler Whitlock; Senior, Accounting Major

Hailing from the land of Nephi, Utah, Tyler Whitlock grew up under the shade of the Majestic Mt. Nebo.  Currently, Tyler is studying accounting and has a minor in Spanish.  He is an avid athlete that lacks coordination.  To date he has broken his arms, shoulder, and most of his fingers and toes.  In the future he hopes to be a millionaire and travel the world.  In 2009 He attended GHA and loved it so much he just had to come back.

Weston Prisbrey; Senior, Biology Major

Weston grew up in the best place in the world AKA Richfield, Utah. He is a senior Biology major and plans to attend graduate school in the fall for a Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration. Weston enjoys playing volleyball, camping, hiking, watching movies, eating cookie dough ice cream, and is a sucker for a good water feature. If he could live anywhere in the world, it would be somewhere with sand, palm trees, and the ocean. Weston loves all things SUU and is stoked for GHA to start!
