MPA Current Student Testimonials: Jayci Bash

Jayci has a Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion and Education with an emphasis in Community Health.  She chose the program because the Master of Public Administration program with the emphasis in Student Services is a perfect fit for her career goals.  She works in higher education as a program specialist and utilizes the concepts addressed by the MPA program.  Earning the MPA degree will significantly enhance her options for future employment.

Jayci has a passion for higher education, but does not have the desire to teach.  Being and administrator in higher education is something that she finds truly rewarding and hopes that this emphasis will give her the skills and knowledge necessary to work in the field.  She mentioned that her mentor teacher is Patrick Clarke, who is Dean of the School of Integrative & Engaged Learning at Southern Utah University.  She says that his professional experience brings a significant amount of value to her education.  He is approachable, understandable, and willing to do what it takes to help her achieve her educational goals.

She has enjoyed the interaction with faculty members in her emphasis area.  Jayci talks about how her favorite course was Student Affairs in Higher Education.  She really enjoyed the Couse material, the instructors were fabulous and very experienced in the field, and her fellow students really added the experience. She loves how the MPA program is filled with passionate students and faculty who work together in creating a truly experiential education based in classical and current public administration theory.
