Computer Technology Courses

  • T-bird 10 Pro Skills Podcast: This course is delivered in a podcast-like format with 10 Utah professionals being interviewed to help you develop skills and confidence to succeed in the workplace. Each episode is about 35 minutes long and focuses on one professional skill. You’ll have a short assignment to complete after each interview. Topics include professionalism, leadership, communication, cultural readiness, critical thinking, customer service, career development, project management, professional brand, and teamwork.
  • IT Help Desk: This ten hour, self-pacing course teaches the basic skills needed by a help desk professional, including help desk responsibilities, software navigation and management, networking and troubleshooting skills.
  • Software as a Service: Designed and taught by industry professionals, this informational course will help you understand what SaaS is, important terminology, metrics and its business model. In ten hours, dive into possible careers that would allow you to build new SaaS and help maintain existing software.
  • Cybersecurity Foundations: This self-pacing, online introduction to cybersecurity will take ten hours to complete and teaches the basics of what cybersecurity is, how it has developed, and the tools used in the trade to keep people and organizations safe from online threats and attacks.

By completing the T-bird 10 Pro Skills course and Foundation Skills courses, you'll earn digital badges that can be uploaded to social media and added to your resume. The Workplace Ready and Foundational Skills are self-paced and must be completed before June 30, 2023.

Cybersecurity Fundamentals Certificate

In this course you'll learn fundamental concepts for cybersecurity including planning, risk management, cryptography, network security, system hardening and policy. You'll also be introduced to the management, technical and administrative aspects of a career in the industry. Learn how to recognize potential threats to confidential information and understand the legal, regulatory and ethical dimensions of information assurance and security.

This certificate program includes discussion with industry professionals, reflections, assignments, personal professional goal setting and skills assessment. Start your certificate on May 1, 2023.

By completing the Cybersecurity Fundamentals Certificate, you'll earn a frameable institutional certificate, and three credits that may be applied toward degree programs at SUU. Once you have completed the certificate you'll be invited to pair up with an industry mentor and get a ticket to attend the 2023 Silicon Slopes Summit.
