Abbie Chapman
Abbie Chapman
Abbie Chapman is a freshman Democrat majoring in Vocal Performance. Her hobbies include singing, theater, sewing, buying too-expensive makeup, eating, and napping.

She does not have a favorite SUU tradition yet, but Abbie cannot wait to find one. She loves eating chicken and waffles and is psyched to be attending SUU.

Austin Byrd is a junior Digital Media major from Layton, Utah. He enjoys anything outdoors, video production, parkour, and 4-wheeling. He is also a Libertarian / Republican.

His favorite part of SUU is Old Sorrel and his favorite food is anything cooking in a Dutch Oven. Around Cedar City, Austin enjoys Discovery Park, hiking, and listening to comedians at Off the Cuff.

Braden Bybee is a senior dual major in Accounting and Chemistry. He is from Cedar City, Utah, and considers his views to be conservative.

Hobbies of Braden’s include playing the drums and golfing. His favorite SUU tradition is the Battle of the Bands competition. His favorite food is fried shrimp and he loves to go rappelling with his wife.

Carter Robinson is a freshman Business major from Cedar City, Utah. He is a Republican who enjoys golfing, skiing, snowboarding, and hunting.

His favorite SUU tradition is the Bell Tower. Being from Cedar City, he knows the surrounding areas well. He enjoys going to 2,000 flushes, rabbit hunting, golfing, going onto the mountain, and eating at Pizza Factory.

Colling Shurtleff is a junior Republican seeking a degree in English Literature. He is from Parowan, Utah, and his favorite food is rare beef in any form.

Hobbies of Collin’s include reading poetry, fishing, bowling, horseshoes, and woodworking. He often thinks about the good old days when Grandee’s was open.

Evan Miller is a sophomore Psychology major with a minor in Creative Writing. In his spare time he likes to run, speak Russian, and compete in / follow football and basketball.

Evan identifies as an independent in the political spectrum. He enjoys eating Mexican food, running trails, and adventuring in the hills around the city. His favorite SUU tradition is Study Day when no one studies and everyone goes and has fun.

Houser Duncan is a senior Exercise Science major with a minor in both Chemistry and Business. He is a Republican from Spanish Fork, Utah.

Houser’s favorite hobbies include playing sports, being outdoors, and lounging in hammocks. His favorite SUU tradition is Forever Red and True T-bird Night. He enjoys eating pizza and playing glow in the dark golf at 2,000 flushes.

Jesse Drury is beginning his third year at SUU this fall as a Political Science major with a minor in Spanish and Legal Studies. He tries to remain independent in his political affiliation, but he does lean conservative.

Jesse is from Herriman, Utah, and enjoys anything athletics (especially soccer), politics, and being outside. His favorite SUU tradition is walking under the Bell Tower. He enjoys eating Panda Express and long boarding throughout Cedar City.

Justin Douglas is a senior dual major in Economics and Political Science with a minor in Music. He is from Orange County, California, and identifies as a Libertarian on the political spectrum.

His favorite SUU tradition is Paint the Town Red, while his favorite activities in Cedar City includes trips to the reservoir and late night runs to Valeries. His hobbies include spending time with friends, playing the piano, and seeking all that is fun.

Kadee Arave is a sophomore Strategic Communications major with a minor in Graphic Design. She is from Harrisville, Utah, and identifies as a conservative liberal / unaffiliated when it comes to politics.

Hobbies of Kadee’s include painting, photography, movies, traveling, playing fetch with her puppy, and doing anything related to Harry Potter. Her favorite SUU tradition is the Bell Tower tradition and her favorite food is watermelon.

MacKenzie Maness is starting her junior year, pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship. She is a Libertarian / Republican from La Verkin, Utah.

Around Cedar City, MacKenzie enjoys hiking, festivals, Off the Cuff comedy, and volunteering her time. Her favorite food is tacos and she enjoys photography, outdoor activities, and traveling. Her favorite SUU memory was when she participated in the first annual Semester in the Parks.

McKenzie Bunker is a freshman Psychology major from Lindon, Utah. When is comes to political party affiliation, she is independent. She enjoys Cedar City because it is close to one of her favorite hikes, Kanarraville Falls.

Her hobbies include camping, road tripping with good music, gardening, singing, and cooking. Her favorite SUU memory is when she was able to watch the flippin’ birds gymnastics meet where she saw the student center in all its action.

Morgan Kay Leavitt is a sophomore Exercise Science major from Tooele, Utah. She loves anything that has to do with sports or the outdoors. Her favorite food is either steak or popcorn and she is a transfer student to SUU.

She enjoys exploring the national parks around Cedar City and getting to know the ins and outs of the town. Morgan lives an active lifestyle and being in Cedar City gives her many opportunities to do just that.

Samantha Mortensen is a freshman Business major with a minor in Photography. She is from Santaquin, Utah, and is a Republican. Her favorite hobbies include photography, hiking, swimming, and reading.

Samantha loves to drink green smoothies and enjoys the beautiful sights that Cedar City has to offer. Her favorite SUU memory is attending Leadership Weekend where she met many people and made friends before she even started school.

Serena Woodhouse is a junior majoring in Philosophy with a minor in Anthropology. She is from West Valley City, Utah, and is independent of any political affiliations.

In her spare time, Serena enjoys reading, playing soccer, and playing the piano. Her favorite SUU memory is the first time she came to campus for a Red Riot. She was only with a couple of friends but she enjoyed how small and friendly everyone else was. Her favorite food is lasagna and her favorite Cedar City activity is riding her bike up the Canyon Park Trail.

Sunny Sims is a junior dual major in Political Science and Criminal Justice with a minor in Legal Studies. She is from Las Vegas, Nevada, and identifies as a Democrat.

Sunny’s hobbies include singing, writing music, and watching movies. Her favorite SUU memory is attending her first SUU football game where she learned just how much school spirit the school has. Her favorite food is sushi and she enjoys eating out in Cedar City because she really loves food.

Taylor Call is originally from Bedford, Massachusetts, but came to school at SUU by way of Bentonville, Arkansas. He is a senior majoring in Political Science. He is passionate about political theory and governing philosophies.

Hobbies of Taylor’s include playing any type of sport and finding refuge in the outdoors. After graduating from SUU, Taylor plans to attend law school and practice criminal law in the state of Utah.

Her favorite SUU memory is attending Leadership Weekend, a time for incoming students to get involved with different on-campus leadership organizations. Her favorite food is either Chinese or tacos and her favorite part of Cedar City is the Shakespeare Festival.
