Shane Yardley, MSN, RN, NREMT-P, LPT, CEN, CHSE, CNEcl, PCCN

Shane Yardley is an Assistant Professor and the RN to BSN Program Faculty Lead in the Department of Nursing at Southern Utah University. Shane became a certified paramedic in 2007, a licensed practical nurse (LPN) in 2009, and a registered nurse (RN) in 2010. Shane received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with a minor in Criminal Justice from Southern Utah University in 2011 and his Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Leadership & Management in 2018 from Western Governors University. Shane earned a Healthcare Simulation Graduate Certificate from Boise State University in 2019. Shane is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Nursing Education from the University of Northern Colorado. Shane is a Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN), Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE), Certified Academic Clinical Nurse Educator (CNEcl), and Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN).

Shane has worked in health care in various roles since 2005. His background, and passion, are in rural and emergency medicine. He has worked in a variety of practice settings from home health and long-term care to emergency department, ground transport, and flight nursing. Immediately prior to his appointment at SUU, Shane was the Assistant Chief Nursing Officer, Director of Quality, and Director of Infection Prevention & Control at Milford Memorial Hospital. Shane taught Clinical & Simulation Learning at Southwest Technical College during the inaugural year of their LPN Program and is currently a Learning Lab Instructor at Western Governors University. He maintains practice as an RN at Milford Memorial Hospital, a critical-access facility, and continues to run as an Advanced-EMT at Milford Valley Ambulance Service.

Shane was named Rural Hospital Generalist Nurse of the Year by Southern Utah University in 2018 and SUU College of Science and Engineering Faculty of the Year for Nursing for the 2019-2020 academic year.
