SUU is proud to help returning students complete their undergraduate degree through the Finish Line Scholarship. This scholarship will provide up to four semesters of resident tuition funding at SUU for qualifying students. The Finish Line Scholarship gives people with some college credit a new opportunity to succeed and finish what they started without the additional financial burden.

The Finish Line Scholarship works by combining gift aid (Pell Grants and Scholarships) from federal and institutional sources. This will help fund resident tuition* for up to four semesters. If a student doesn't qualify for a Pell Grant they will be eligible to receive half of resident tuition costs for up to four semesters.

Student fees, course fees, study abroad program fees, books, housing, and other educational expenses are not covered as a part of the program. 

SUU will provide recipients with a combination of the following sources of aid. 

  • Pell Grants 
  • Institutional Scholarships

*A non-resident student, residing outside of Utah and taking all online courses is eligible to receive in-state tuition.

  • Open to students returning to college, admitted to SUU for the fall of 2019 semester who are degree-seeking, full-time students (pursuing first undergraduate degree) with an intent to graduate from Southern Utah University. 
  • In order to receive this scholarship, Utah Legislation requires that you verify your citizenship. You can do so by completing a FAFSA, submitting a Citizenship Verification Form, or a copy of your birth certificate.
  • Total institutional scholarship awards cannot exceed full tuition. Contact your individual department for rules regarding department scholarships.
  • Admission to SUU does not guarantee eligibility for the Finish Line Promise Scholarship Program. 
  • You must be eligible to receive a Federal Pell Grant. If you are not eligible to receive a Pell Grant you may be eligible to receive a 50% resident tuition scholarship. 
  • You must enroll in online or on-campus courses in the fall of 2019. Non-resident students, residing outside of Utah and taking all online courses are eligible to receive in-state tuition.
  • You cannot have attended SUU within the past year. 
  • You must submit a FAFSA, apply to SUU, and apply to the Finish Line Scholarship.

Students wishing to continue in the Finish Line Scholarship must meet the criteria below:

  • You must maintain a cumulative SUU GPA of 2.0
  • If you attend SUU as a full-time student (12 or more credits in the fall and spring semester) in the fall and spring semester and wish to take summer course you must take at least 6 credits in the summer to maintain Pell Eligibility. 
  • In order to receive full tuition funding, you must remain Federal Pell Grant eligible.
  • This scholarship can be applied for a maximum of 4 semesters.
