Who Can Apply?

The ideal candidate is a junior, senior, or recent graduate who is ready for upper division field courses and has an interest in connecting to parks and public lands.

To Apply

  1. Fill out and submit the online application below. (Attach an Unofficial Transcript)
  2. Pay deposit online. (See Refund Policy under Additional Information)
  3. Interview
    • Once your application has been reviewed, you will be contacted to set up an interview.
    • In-person interviews are best if possible. If not, phone or Skype interviews may be arranged.
  4. You will be notified by the deadline.
  5. Make final payment.

Additional Information

  • First consideration date: March 8, after this date, students will be accepted into the program on a rolling basis.
  • Internship applications due: March 31
  • Deposit Deadline: April 15
  • Final Payment Deadline: July 1

In addition to regular SUU tuition and fees, the program has a $1,500 charge that covers the cost of field transportation, trip meals, group equipment, entrance fees and some limited housing and meals. Program students will also receive an annual Interagency Pass, allowing them access to all National Parks and more than 2,000 recreation areas nationwide after the program is completed.

Financial Aid is available through the following SUU offices:

A $300 deposit is required at the time of application submission.

If the applicant is not accepted, the deposit will be repaid in full.

To receive refunds once a student is accepted into the program and subsequently withdraws, the student will need to send a written refund request to:

Prior to the final payment deadline: $150 withdrawal fee plus any unrecoverable costs to the Semester in the Parks program at the time of the withdrawal date (the date that written notification is received) will be deducted.

After the final payment deadline or anytime during the semester: Upon receipt of written request, $150 withdrawal fee, outstanding balances plus any damages will be deducted.

Students dismissed after the program begins will forfeit all fees.

Tuition refunds will follow SUU financial procedures and deadlines as outlined in the Registrar's Office Refund Schedule.
