During the first-ever all-virtual Best Friends National Conference, taking place June 23 and 24, 2021, you’ll connect with animal welfare leaders from across the country, unite with like-minded animal welfare supporters and gain knowledge to save the lives of more homeless pets in your community.

Who should attend? Everyone! Whether you’re the director of a local shelter, a volunteer at an animal organization, an animal control officer, a veterinarian, an adoption counselor, or just someone who wants to learn more about animal welfare, this event is for you.

Additionally, you can enhance your conference experience by earning an SUU Institutional Certificate and Continuing Education Units (CEUs). CEUs earned at SUU may be applied toward Certified Animal Welfare Administrator (CAWA) certification.

Earn an Institutional Certificate

By registering for, and attending at least 80% of the Best Friends National Conference you have the opportunity to earn an SUU Institutional Certificate and one CEU that will be reflected on your university transcript. To register for the Conference Certification, please complete the two-step process of applying and paying.

Earn Three Continuing Education Units (CEUs)

By successfully completing the Best Friends National Conference Fast Track, you will earn three credits that may be applied either to an SUU bachelor’s or participating master’s degree. You will also receive an SUU Institutional Certificate, and earned CEUs will be reflected on your university transcript.

You will have approximately seven weeks to finish the course with guidance from your instructor. This online course is designed to enhance your engagement with material presented at the Best Friends National Conference. Registration for and attendance of at least 80% of the conference is required to participate in the Fast Track. To register for the Fast Track, please complete the two-step process of applying and paying.

Featuring content curated in partnership with Best Friends Animal Society, this course allows you to connect with current and aspiring animal welfare leaders from across the country, unite with like-minded animal welfare supporters, and expand your knowledge to save more lives of homeless pets in your community as you deep-dive into presentations from the 2021 Best Friends National Conference.

Course modules explore a breadth of information that’s vital to improving and professionalizing the industry of animal welfare. You’ll work both independently and collaboratively with opportunities to reflect on lifesaving principles, strategies and tactics, and present key takeaways in a final week live session.
