Setting the Stage at the Utah Shakespearean Festival, June 21-August 25

The SUU College of Performing and Visual Arts, in conjunction with the Utah Shakespearean Festival, will present Setting the Stage at the Utah Shakespearean Festival, an exhibit of props and scenery from previous Festival seasons. On view from June 21, 2007 through August 25, 2007 Setting the Stage will feature such props as a pot-bellied stove, a cannon, and historical furniture, all fabricated by the Utah Shakespearean Festival Properties Department.

Cedar City Art Committee 64th Annual Art Exhibit
June 28-August 25

The Southern Utah University Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery will display the 64th Annual Cedar City Art Committee Exhibit from June 28 to August 25, 2007.  The exhibit is a juried show that features two-dimensional works in a variety of media from regional and national artists.  The exhibit showcases a spectrum of visual art styles, including southern Utah landscapes, portraits, still life, and other representational works.   

Frederic Remington Makes Tracks...Adventures and Artistic Impressions, September 6 - October 21

The Southern Utah University Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery is proud to present Frederic Remington Makes Tracks...Adventures and Artistic Impressions. This exhibit combines images printed during Remington's lifetime with silver recasts of his sculptures.

Frederic Remington (1861-1909) was the most popular artist in America at the turn of the century. Remington’s work showcased America through his many illustrations of Western subjects for the popular magazines of his day: Harper’s, The Century, Collier’s and many more. This exhibit contains fifty prints, three fine silver recast sculptures, and one bronze portrait of Remington.  The showing here in Cedar City is part of a nine city national tour over a two and a half year period.

The Southern Utah University Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery is proud to present The High School Fine Art Competition Exhibit from November 29-December 15, 2007 & January 7-19, 2008.

The Exhibit features the promising work of the next generation of artists. Featuring work by selected entrants from Utah high schools, this exhibit offers younger artists an opportunity to display their artwork and receive awards and critiques from the faculty of the SUU Department of Art and Design. 

“Our annual Fine Art Competition offers high school age students, 15-18 years old in grades 9-12, the opportunity to submit their work in drawing, painting, ceramics and graphic design,” says Reece Summers, Gallery Director.  “This exhibit offers young artists an opportunity to present their artwork for adjudication, feedback, and awards.”

Art & Design Faculty Exhibition, February 7-March 14, 2008

The Southern Utah University Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery is proud to present the Art and Design Faculty Exhibition from February 7-March 14, 2008. The Exhibition will explore a variety of art forms, including ceramics, photography, oil painting and mixed media all created in the studios of the internationally renown SUU Art and Design faculty.

“Our annual Art and Design Faculty Exhibition is a great opportunity for students and community members to experience the work of our talented Art and Design faculty,” says Reece Summers, Gallery Director.  “The show is not only a moving visual experience, but also an inspiration to students interested in pursuing a career in Art and Design.”
