SUMA At Home SUMA At Home

Dear Friends,Jessica Farling, director, curator, socially distant

I am writing this from a very quiet museum – know that we miss our visitors and look forward to reopening to the campus and community when it is safe!

To help our community during this time of staying home, we are launching SUMA at Home – a multifaceted campaign focused on bringing art and activities to our audiences! Using the links below, I encourage you to explore our current exhibitions through images, video tours, and hands-on activities.

We invite you to join us for online versions of our ongoing programs, such as Family Day and Create Playdate. Below, you can find instructions for projects to do with supplies you likely have at home. Create Playdate will include storytelling and a follow-along activity broadcasted live on our Facebook. We encourage you to join us and make art together or watch at your leisure after the live broadcast.

Lastly, our exhibition schedule is changing slightly because of the unexpected closure. Although we are still unsure of when we will reopen to the public, SUMA has extended both the 2020 Senior BFA Exhibition and Our Natural World, an exhibition featuring a recent gift of Brett Weston photographs and Jumpstart students, through June 27. You can get a look at each of the exhibitions using the links below.

As you create art in your homes, I invite you to share your experiences with us! Share how you are participating in SUMA at Home on our Facebook or Instagram using #SUMAatHome. You can also email experiencesuma@suu.edu.  Remember to check back here for added content and updates about the museum. For now, let’s follow Governor Herbert’s directive to “Stay Home, Stay Safe” and look forward to seeing each other soon!

Be well,

Jessica Farling
