Under management of Southern Utah University, the Road Creek Inn in Loa, Utah, is an ideal place to stay while exploring national landmarks close by. The Road Creek Inn was once the official outlet of ZCMI (Zion’s Co-operative Mercantile Institution), “America’s First Department Store.” The building housed the Loa Co-op from 1912 to 1942, replacing a building destroyed by fire. It was part of the ZCMI co-operative system, servicing more than 150 communities in the Intermountain area with retail commodities and services beginning in 1868.
