Master of Interdisciplinary Studies (MIS) Admission

For a student to gain admittance into the MIS degree, they must:

  1. Be successfully admitted to the Graduate School at SUU based on University standards in Policy 6.61;
  2. Provide transcripts showing a baccalaureate degree from a regionally-accredited university;
  3. Submit a résumé or curriculum vita (CV);
  4. Submit a Statement of Purpose which addresses the following:
    • Why have you chosen the MIS degree?
    • What two learning blocks do you plan to study, in addition to the required CORE learning block?
    • How do you plan to be successful in the program?
    • What is your preliminary idea for your thesis, project, or internship?
    • How do you plan to use your MIS degree professionally once you graduate?
  5. It is recommended that students be admitted with a minimum 3.00 GPA in their last 60 credits of their undergraduate degree. Having said that, if it is lower, please still apply as you could be admitted on a provisional basis. If you have any questions about being admitted provisionally and or having a lower GPA than 3.00, please contact Dr. Cynthia Kimball Davis, MIS Director, and IES Department Chair, at cynthiakimballdavis@suu.edu or 435-586-7850.
