Summer Semester

Summer Semester Activities

University of the Parks

Centrally located between Zion and Bryce National Parks as well as Cedar Breaks National Monument, and only hours from more than 15 other national parks, monuments, and recreation areas, SUU is the gateway to the great outdoors. There is no better time to be in southern Utah than during the summer months. From rock climbing in Zion to river rafting in Moab, SUU's summer is alive with recreational opportunities.

Students taking summer classes at SUU get an "education vacation" as they immerse themselves in the stunning landscapes surrounding the university to learn and play simultaneously. Explore Southern Utah's National Parks, then plan your trip with SUU Outdoors.

University of the Bard

SUU's campus has been home to the Tony Award-winning Utah Shakespeare Festival for more than 50 years. In partnership with the festival, SUU's theatres put on eight professional plays each year in the summer season, including not only Shakespeare's works but other famous plays from across the globe.

With nightly shows from June through the rest of summer, the Utah Shakespearean Festival draws thousands of viewers and welcomes all SUU summer semester students to attend. All SUU can take advantage of the Festival Access Pass. For just $35, students can get a ticket to as many shows as they like, so long as tickets are available on the day of the performance. Call the festival ticket office for more information: 1-800-752-9849.

Festival City

Nicknamed "Festival City, USA," Cedar City is home to a wide variety of summer festivals and activities, catering to people of all interests and ages. In June, sports lovers will enjoy the renowned Utah Summer Games, while music lovers will find a home at Groovefest, the American Music Festival. After the Utah Shakespearean Festival, theatre enthusiasts can also enjoy the Neil Simon Festival, while students who prefer science can enjoy ranger-led wildflower viewing and stargazing parties at Cedar Breaks and Brianhead.
