The following summer courses are open to all SUU majors. They are core courses for hospitality and event planning majors. They can also count as elective credit courses to all SUU majors.

These two courses will help students to explore career opportunities in the hospitality and tourism
industry. Students will get the chance to join a rapidly growing industry. Every country in the world has a
hospitality and tourism industry. Students will learn the opportunities to work and travel internationally.
The skills they learn here are readily transferable, meaning that a career in hospitality and tourism can
very easily be the key to discovering new countries, new culture and new people.

HRHM 3000 - Introduction to Hospitality Management

This course introduces students to a management career in the hospitality industry, including
resorts, casinos, hotels, restaurants, culinary arts, clubs, meetings, conventions and event planning,
bartending, coffee shops, recreation and leisure, attractions, theme parks, cruise line, airline, and
tourism. The importance of leadership and the establishment of a service culture are also treated.
