SAKHITAB NAMED FIRST-TEAM ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT
CEDAR CITY, Utah – May 24 – Southern Utah’s Leah Sakhitab has been named to the Academic All-District 8 At-large first team by the Collegiate Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Sakhitab earned the award after carrying a 3.92 GPA through her four years at Southern Utah in English Education.
Along with her success in the classroom, Sakhitab led the Thunderbirds with the highest season average in the all-around, uneven bars and balance beam. She also recorded a team-high 9.925 on floor exercise. Her performance at the WAC Championships gleaned all-conference honors inn the all-around and balance beam.
She finished her career at Southern Utah with school records on the balance beam and in the all-around along with the title of 2006 WAC Gymnast of the year. She also made a national splash with an appearance at the 2005 NCAA National Championships and was a four-time NCAA regional qualifier.
Sakhitab will now be eligible for Academic All-America consideration on the national ballot. |
