Accounting

An undergraduate accounting degree provides the foundation necessary to obtain a Master of Accountancy (MAcc) degree and become a certified public accountant. Nearly all of SUU’s MAcc students are placed in professional accounting careers and find employment during their graduate studies. Starting salaries for undergraduates in the accountancy field range from $30,000 to $40,000, while starting salaries for MAcc graduates range from $40,000 to $50,000. Both typically double their salaries every 5 years.

POSSIBLE CAREERS

Public accounting firms: tax practitioner, auditor, etc. for states not requiring 150 semester or 225 quarter hours. Business/industry: cost accountant, A/R or A/P accountant, payroll clerk, purchasing manager, inventory analyst, credit analyst, banking, financial services, etc. Governmental career: accounting clerk, cost analyst, FBI, IRS, etc. Non-profit: accounting clerk.
