
Fields of particular relevance are the museum and curatorial professions, gallery management, front-end art and design occupations, art restoration and critical journalism, research and scholarship; but art history students develop writing, organizational and thinking skills that have universal appeal to employers in a broad variety of professional contexts.
The computer labs available to art and art history majors are both PC- and Mac-based, and are extremely up-to-date and fully enhanced by the latest design, database, presentation and word-processing software.
SUU’s library is an excellent starting point for all art history research projects; from there the libraries of the world are within easy reach through the Interlibrary Loan cooperative program, in which SUU is an active participant.
Art history majors often pursue internships and curricula related to the activities of the Braithwaite Visual Art Gallery on SUU campus, and get hands-on experience with the handling, cataloguing and exhibition of major art works under the guidance of experienced museology professionals.
