Construction Technology (AAS)

SUU’s Construction Management program helps students become professionals in the construction industry, directing commercial and residential construction projects by providing leadership for engineers and architects and providing oversight to project timelines and budgets. The construction technology associate degree is a solid starting point for that professional track, providing instruction in construction processes, business and management, and architectural and engineering principles.

Students travel annually to national competitions that provide access to industry and graduate school recruiters.

POSSIBLE CAREERS

The construction industry is a multi-billion dollar industry that spans the globe. Graduates can find jobs in the U.S. and abroad as banking industry construction inspectors and loan officers, project engineers, building inspectors, insurance adjusters, general contractors, subcontractors, construction superintendents, construction foreman, real estate specialists, facility managers, concrete testers, estimators, schedulers, designers, architectural drafters, project coordinators, remodeling contractors, residential and commercial restoration specialists, and in construction product sales.

AVAILABLE RESOURCES

Materials processing lab complete with state-of-the-art equipment as well as traditional machines and tools; indoor construction lab where project homes are constructed; and guest industry lecturers.

STUDENT INVOLVEMENT

Jobsite foreman and leadership opportunities, National Home Builders Association Club, Associated General Contractors Club, service learning opportunities in Mexico and regionally, summer internships.
