Elementary Education
The Department of Teacher Education prepares teacher candidates to
assist students in future classrooms across the United States become
successful citizens in the 21st Century. SUU’s program provides outstanding
opportunities for students to develop expertise as teachers through course and
field experiences that draw upon faculty’s knowledge of specialty area content,
instructional practices, and learning theory. In addition to coursework focusing
on effective teaching, an integral component of our programs is the strong
partnership built with the Iron County School District. Through this collaborative
relationship, students are engaged in the teaching and learning process utilizing
a variety of practicums in diverse school settings in grades K-12.
