Student Malachi Allen Originally from Bozeman, Montana, Malachi Allen graduated from high school in 2021 and began attending Southern Utah University in 2024. His current research focuses on conjugate fracture densities in Bryce Canyon National Park and how those patterns correlate with hoodoo formation and density.

Currently, Malachi serves as President of the Geology Club, where he and other members enjoy participating in STEAM nights at local elementary schools and engaging with the community to promote earth science education. He has also been recognized on the Dean's List for both Fall 2024 and Spring 2025, an achievement that reflects his academic dedication.

Malachi's favorite part about studying at SUU is the geology department's incredible professors, whose classes have shaped both his academic and personal growth. The surrounding area is another major highlight, offering world class climbing, canyoneering, hiking, and mountain biking, along with stunning geological formations like Red Hill that can be seen right from downtown Cedar City.

Looking ahead, Malachi hopes to pursue a career in soil science, ideally working with wineries in and around the Alps, with a special interest in Italy. Outside of academics, he loves spending time outdoors and exploring the extraordinary geological landscapes of Southern Utah and beyond.
