SUU BZI YEA Camps for Grades 9 to 12
Computer Coding: Python
Discover the power of Python, a versatile and widely used professional programming language. Taught in most collegiate Computer Science programs, our course offers a comprehensive dive into this rapidly growing industry. Bring your laptop for continued programming at home, or use one provided during the camp. Join us and unlock the potential of Python programming in a dynamic and supportive learning environment!
Tech Detective: Solving Mysteries
In this class discover the foundational principles of encryption and decryption using a shared key for secure communication. Students will explore classic ciphers such as the Caesar Cipher and techniques like brute force attacks and substitution ciphers. The curriculum includes an in-depth study of frequency analysis, encoding/decoding processes, modular arithmetic, modular inverses, and the Euclidean Algorithm. This class dives into Euler's Totient and Euler's Theorem to provide insights into modular exponentiation. Additionally, students will investigate the Discrete Logarithm Problem and explore the realm of Public Key Cryptography.
Operation: 3D Laser Cutting
Explore the world of CO2 lasers in this hands-on workshop. Join us to master the art of laser design with interactive learning and creative challenges. Students will have the opportunity to learn about the parts of a CO2 Laser, how to operate, calibrate, and diagnose laser cutters, design "laser-friendly" 3D models using Solidworks and AutoCAD to prepare them with Lightburn software, master engraving techniques, optimize images, and cut and engrave designs to create and assemble a personal project to take home. Conclude with an overview of the design-to-print process, post-process laser-cut parts, the assembly of designs, and compete in a thrilling challenge. Showcase your creations on an SUU display pedestal.
Operation: 3D Printing
Master the art of 3D printing with hands-on learning and creative challenges. Understand the components of a 3D printer and how to operate, calibrate, and diagnose the printer. Dive into our hands on 3D modeling by using Solidworks or Fusion 360, tackle design challenges, and explore the preparation of prints with Print Studio or Cura. Prepare models for slicing, and initiate prints on our 3D printers. Cap off the experience with a comprehensive overview of the design-to-print process, post-processing techniques, and a friendly 3D print challenge. Showcase your masterpieces on an SUU display pedestal.
