It was a great experience meeting Gary Giles on his 80th Birthday. I am so grateful that I was chosen to be the first recipient of the scholarship made on his behalf. I am finishing my bachelor’s degree in Accounting this year at Southern Utah University. My husband and I have a one year old little boy who means the world to us, but it has made finishing school a bit more challenging. This scholarship is such a blessing to us and I am so grateful Professor Giles was such a great teacher and that this scholarship was created so students like me can finish their degrees and better our lives. I'm very grateful for all of you contributing to the scholarship and honored to be receiving it. I look forward to graduating from SUU and hope to also contribute back to the University someday. My family and I are very grateful, thank you!

Gary shows the group a cartoon image of himself playing racquetball, recounting that he would challenge students to try to beat him in a game for a better grade. He claims to have never changed a grade from losing to a student.
