Southern Utah University’s Dr. Lynn White, associate professor of psychology, received the Distinguished Service Award at the national convention of the Alpha Chi College Honor Society earlier this year. White was one of 10 individuals recognized for her influential service to the honor society.

“I cannot imagine SUU without her influence toward the development of scholarship and undergraduate research,” comments Dr. Luciane Berg, Psychology Department Chair. “She is one of our shining stars.”

Dr. White has served as the faculty sponsor for the Utah Beta chapter at Southern Utah University for the last nine years. Currently, she is the president of Region VII and has previously served as an officer and host of a regional convention. As a faculty sponsor she has helped to increase the number of scholarships offered to Alpha Chi students throughout the region.

“I was delighted,” remarks White. “To be recognized at the national level is very satisfying and appreciated.”

Alpha Chi is a cross-disciplinary honorary undergraduate society that was founded in 1922. College students in the top 10 percent of their class are invited to participate.
