“Éste es mi México” on Display in SUU’s Sherratt Library

Published: April 10, 2008 | Category: Arts

“Éste es mi México,” an art exhibit featuring 36 paintings by Mexican children, on loan from the Mexican Consulate of Salt Lake City, is on display in SUU’s Library.

These paintings, from children between the ages of seven and 11, are some of the winning entries from an annual children’s art contest conducted by the Mexican Department of Foreign Affairs. To participate, children were asked to express what Mexico means to them through their drawing. This year marks the eleventh year for the art contest, with an annual submission rate of roughly 6,000 entries.

The exhibit will run now through Thursday, April 24, 2008. The Sherratt Library is open from 7 a.m.-11 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. on Fridays, from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. on Saturdays and from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sundays.

All members of the community and press are invited to view the exhibit. No admission will be charged.

The exhibit is located on the third floor of the Gerald R. Sherratt Library on the campus of Southern Utah University.
