SUU Assistant Professor of Nursing Rebecca Rasmusson pressed the significance of the conference and its value, saying, "It will provide a service to the community by promoting health and wellness to a woman and couples before pregnancy and during to help improve birth outcomes. Preterm births are on the rise and there is a need for preconception risk reduction and preconception health is important."
Among the topics that will be addressed are exercise during pregnancy, diet before and during pregnancy, fertility and conception issues, weight gain and pregnancy and the correlation between smoking and pregnancy.
