The Southern Utah University Women's Softball team will host Dixie State College Tuesday, March 31, for a double header Breast Cancer Awareness game at SUU’s Kathryn Berg Field. The first game is set to start at 1 pm, the second at 3 pm.

The SUU athletic department and local sorority Alpha Phi are teaming up to host the event, which will include concessions, face painting and prize drawings in addition to two very competitive back-to-back games.

Of their role in this fundraiser, Alpha Phi's SUU Chapter President, Raquel Roldan said, "The sisters of Alpha Phi are very excited to have this chance to serve our school and community. We are aware of the necessity for aggressive education and the pursuit of treatment for breast cancer and as committed and involved students we are always ready and happy to step up for just this type of service opportunity.”

Thunderbird Softball fans are encouraged join the team and the Alpha Phi sisters in wearing pink to show support for breast cancer research. Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Huntsman Cancer Research Center and the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation.

Next Tuesday’s softball games will serve as a nice introduction to the county-wide breast cancer fundraiser, the annual Relay for Life of Iron County, to be hosted on SUU’s campus April 17-18.
