Join the Utah Shakespearean Festival Playmakers for a special production of “Seussical Jr.,” a musical based on the works of Dr. Seuss. This unique children’s theatre production will feature over 50 local children. Performances will take place in the Randall L. Jones Theatre on March 24-26 at 7:30 p.m. and March 27 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $3 for children and $5 for adults, and are available now at 1-800-PLAYTIX and 435-586-7878.

“This musical is a wonderful celebration of Dr. Seuss featuring characters from all of his most popular works,” said Miranda Giles, Festival education outreach coordinator. “We have had a lot of fun in rehearsals teaching the kids how to speak ‘Dr. Seuss.’ It is similar to teaching actors how to follow the rhythm of Shakespeare.”

The musical is set in the fictional worlds of The Jungle of Nool from “Horton Hears a Who!,” and Who-ville from “How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” The story is narrated by Seuss’ beloved character, The Cat in the Hat.

“This is the largest and most spectacular production that the Playmakers program has ever produced,” said Michael Don Bahr, Festival education director. “Families will see big theatre magic like they have never seen before.”

The Playmakers will also present four student matinees March 24-26, which will be seen by over 2800 local students.
