The third annual Thor’s Thunder Classic golf tournament brought in $72,000 for Southern Utah University’s scholarship and alumni funds. Despite fewer teams participating this year than last, donations received were very close to last year’s total, showcasing the commitment of SUU’s friends and associates to the Thunderbird community.

As the University’s primary scholarship fundraiser, SUU President Michael T. Benson remains grateful to all involved in orchestrating what has proven itself a fun new University tradition, including Entrada Country Club in St. George, UT.

Said Benson, “The folks at Entrada generously allowed us to use what is arguably the finest course in Utah, and we have been able to attract support from all over the region for this event.” He then added, “There is no better cause than providing scholarship opportunities for young people to get a college education.”

This year’s tournament included notable participants such as Utah System of Higher Education Commissioner Bill Sederburg, SUU Trustees Mark Russell and Gayle Pollock, and of course many other supporters of SUU.

This year’s winner was the IC Group team of Greg Tait, Casey McClellan and Brad Brown.

The tournament’s title sponsor was Color Country Pediatrics, and major sponsors included Entrada Country Club and Suh’dutsing Technologies.
