Former Miss Utah to Discuss Substance Abuse at SUU

Southern Utah University’s Convocation Lecture Series is pleased to announce that Heather Anderson, former Miss Utah USA, will speak at a special “Bonus” Convocation. Her presentation titled “A Discussion About Substance Abuse Prevention with Heather Anderson” will be on Thursday, February 24, at 11:30 a.m. in the Sharwan Smith Center Theatre (ST161, Behind the "C" Store).

This presentation is part of Anderson’s national campaign to prevent drug abuse.

Heather Anderson placed as a finalist at Miss USA on NBC. Her drug prevention campaign launched during her Miss Utah USA reign secured her the "Power of Prevention Award" for the state of Utah. Heather works extensively with the Utah Council for Crime Prevention as an executive board member and is a spokesperson for D.A.R.E. Heather serves on the National Crime Prevention Association and the National McGruff Board. She was also appointed by the attorney general to serve on the Methamphetamine State Task Force. She is currently the Honorary Membership Chair for the State of Utah PTA 2009-2011.

Anderson attended Utah State University where she graduated with a degree in Psychology. She currently attends the University of Notre Dame where she is working on a master degree in nonprofit administration.

Anderson has shot national commercials and campaigns, including a billboard in Time Square. As a runway model, Heather walked for everyone from Diesel to Louis Vuitton.
