A fundraiser for the SUU women’s soccer team, the Futsal Fundraiser is in its third year and will bring together students, faculty, staff and community members into a tournament with massive impact but with the smallest teams.
Downsizing from the traditional futbol match, futsal is a form of indoor soccer that is played on an indoor court with only five players and a smaller ball and smaller boundaries.
This 4x4 tournament will run from March 1-6 with two separate divisions (recreational and competitive) for players of any skill level, all games will take place in the Multipurpose Center.
Adam Farsi, assistant coach to the women’s soccer team, ensured that tournament is set up to ensure teams are given as much playing time as possible, and will be consolation games for those teams that do not enter the championship rounds.
He said, “This tournament allows anyone to get out of their typical schedules and mingle with others in a way that isn’t typical. You will get to interact with people of
The rules will require at least one female on the field for each team at a time. Weekend games will occur in the afternoons and games on weekdays will begin after 4 p.m. or later. The tournament is open to anyone over the age of 16 and you do not have to be a University student to participate. All participants are required sign and return a waiver.
All proceeds from the Futsal Fundraiser will help support the women’s soccer team with travel needs this upcoming fall season. Cost is $25 for the general public and $20 for students, faculty and staff. A discounted rate will be given to University departments/offices that wish to sign up a complete team.
Individuals are encouraged to sign up and will be included on a team with the women’s soccer team players.
