Have you ever dreamed of traveling the entire world in a week? On November 17-21, Southern Utah University students can make that dream a reality in celebration of International Education Week, a series of events and activities aimed to educate students about a variety of cultures sponsored by the Sargon Heinrich Global Engagement Center.

The largest event, a weeklong scavenger hunt, will begin at the event’s opening ceremony on Monday, November 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Sharwan Smith Student Center Living Room. Participating students can win prizes such as an iPad mini or internationally themed gift baskets and treats, for attending the week’s activities as well as visiting locations with international ties around campus and Cedar City.

Other activities include the annual International Food Fair, crane origami, a countries fair, international trivia competition, and a foreign-language film festival. All of the events are held in various locations in the Student Center and are free and open to the public.

Several departments on campus have coordinated the week’s events. Kurt Harris, Director of Global Engagement, said, “So many are contributing to this week because the understand the value of international education. This is intended to be not only an educational week, but a community-wide celebration.”
