The Best Schools website is an independent organization comprised of educators, editors, authors, and web professionals.

The ranking is based on six informational categories: academic excellence, strength of faculty scholarship, reputation, financial aid, range of degree programs, and strength of online instruction methodology.

SUU’s General Studies program is ranked #42 on the list. SUU is the only school from Utah that is ranked. Students in the program earn a multidisciplinary degree that requires 120 credits. The curriculum’s general studies core includes a three-credit capstone course and a three-credit research seminar.

“There are many BGS degrees out there,” says Dr. Cynthia Kimball Davis, chair of the Integrative & Engaged Studies (IES) Department, which houses the degree.  “The fact that we made the list, though, speaks volumes. Our degree is an excellent one and thus, we’ve seen an increase in national interest in it particularly for those who need not only a flexible one, but for those who began a degree, but never finished it.”

Online students have access to the Career Center and services including resume preparation, graduate school assistance, and networking opportunities. SUU receives accreditation by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.
