FRESH! An Original Choreographed Dance Concert at SUU

SUU’s Department of Theatre Arts & Dance will present FRESH! An Original Choreographed Dance Concert on November 30, December 1, 3, 7, 8, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. and December 8, 2018 at 2 p.m. in the Randall L. Jones Theatre. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for alumni with card, and $5 for youth. SUU faculty, staff, and students can get in free with a valid ID card. Tickets can be purchased at the America’s First Event Center Box Office, at the door the night of the performance, or online at SUU College of Performing and Visual Arts website.
Michael Crotty, Assistant Professor of Dance, shares, "As an evening of original choreographic works, FRESH! addresses notions of resurgence, and the role of art-making to generate new ideas and make meaning out of seemingly disparate points of view, opinions, and experiences. FRESH! draws on the unique points of view of several choreographers as they utilize dance as a conduit to make meaning and authentically generate bold works of art that can challenge, entertain, and revitalize us."
SUU is accredited by the National Association of School of Dance (NASD) and offers a diverse curriculum of classes and laboratory experiences for dance majors. The SUU dance department employs both nationally- and internationally-renowned faculty members who are dedicated to sharing their skills and experiences to prepare students for future careers. Instructors are deeply focused and offer a personalized approach to education.
Zadie Farris, a freshman Dance Education and History Education double major, explains, “Before I came to SUU I had never practiced or performed the modern dance style. Some of the movement that has been asked of me is challenging because of how foreign it is to my body. New experiences, ideas, and movement are always challenging because they are different. Yet, it is through the new and often times uncomfortable that we as people grow the most.”
