Head football coach Demario Warren wearing a headset while coaching Southern Utah University head football coach Demario Warren has been named to the 2019 American Football Coaches Association 35 Under 35 Leadership Institute, following his third season leading the Thunderbirds.

Warren put his name on the national coaching map during his second season in Cedar City, where he earned AFCA Region 5 Coach of the Year and Big Sky Conference Coach of the Year honors by leading the Thunderbirds to their second Big Sky Conference title and their first ever trip to the Second Round of the FCS Playoffs.

The Thunderbirds ended the 2017 campaign No. 13 in the FCS Coaches Poll and No. 14 in the STATS FCS Top 25.

Warren has a 16-18 overall record as a head coach following a difficult 2018 campaign, but the future looks promising as the Thunderbirds bring back several players that received several reps in their young career that are primed for big things.
